The Emmys are just a day away! Although it’s the Tony Awards that are known for a big opening musical number, you get them occasionally at The Emmys. Here are three that I well.

Wilson Cruz portrayed Dr. Hugh Culber on Star Trek: Discovery from 2017 to 2024 posted a photo with co-star Anthony Rapp and wrote: In deciding which of the hundreds of photos I wanted to post today, the 60th Anniversary of the premiere of Star Trek (thanks Lucille Ball!), I ultimately landed on this one, because in the end, this is what Star Trek is, has always been and should ALWAYS be about, the celebration of our Diversity, the expansion of Equality and the power of Inclusion. I am forever grateful to Star Trek for all it taught me as a young person about the best of humanity and all the franchise allowed me to be a part of, as an adult, to continue and expand that conversation. Wishing a happy 57th birthday to the multi-talented actor Nathan Lee Graham who I really fell in love with during the single season of Hulu’s Mid-Century Modern that he starred in with Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer and Linda Lavin. I even went to a live taping of the sitcom which certainly deserved second season. I enjoyed it immensely and Nathan was just golden in it. Above is a recent podcast interview he did and a few more videos showing what a talent and what a wit this man is.

Gloria Steinem gone? “We are the women our parents warned us about.” An unstoppable visionary who demanded an equal role for females in a male dominated world and worked tirelessly, for decades, to bring that change about. The greatest irony was how many women she had to battle as they cowered behind their male owners. But battle she did. Equal rights! Freedom to choose! Access to political power! Equal pay for equal effort. I was thrilled beyond words when she came to help us create the play BELLA BELLA about her cohort Bella Abzug. She was generous with her time, her intellect, her knowledge of history and her personal warmth. Glorious Gloria! We owe you more than our thanks. You gifted us dignity and showed us the path to equality. I only hope that one day we bring your vision to life. Brava, Diva!

I love these photos because they remind me how happy I was in those moments… and how much life we’ve shared between them. Getting dressed up together will always be fun, but being your husband on an ordinary day is my favorite part. The laughter, the little routines, having someone to tell everything to. A whole life together, made up of things that don’t always make it into a photo.

A Labor Day weekend treat: A shirtless Carlos Alcaraz between games at the US Open!
Carlos Alcaraz has won his first three matches at the US Open – including one today – and will next face American dreamboat Tommy Paul in the fourth round. Not sure if they play Sunday or Monday but I certainly will be watching!
In his first tournament since early April, Carlos has brought star power, excitement and ion to the tournament that he has won twice, including last year. His ranking has slipped to third in the world due to inactivity but should he successfully defend his title, he would match the career grand slam totals of tennis legends Jimmy Connors, Andre Agassi and Ivan Lendl. He’s just 22 so still has a realistic chance of getting near the slam totals of Novak Djokovic (24), Rafael Nadal (22) and Roger Federer (20).
No matter what happens, Carlos wins the title of all-time great hair!

Famous Last Words: Message from Gloria Steinem
Watched Famous Last Words: Gloria Steinem last night on Netflix. Highly recommend it. Prior to her death, Miss Steinem sat down for a deeply reflective conversation about her legacy and to immortalize her final words with the understanding that it would only be shared with the world after she ed.
“I just hope that I have, however accidentally, left behind some words or actions or stories or something that is useful to the people — and pleasurable, hopefully — to the people who are going to continue long after you and me,” she said.
Love this part about encouraging everyone to tell your own story: “The most important thing we can do for each other is to know each other through stories.” Her hope for us all is “that you are able to do what you love [and] to be the unique person you are.”
